Johannesburg – Former University of Witwatersrand SRC president and Fees Must Fall activist Mcebo Dlamini is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Friday in connection with the 2016 Fees Must Fall student protests. Dlamini was arrested for a number of charges, including violating a court order, public violence, assault, theft, and malicious damage to property.
Dlamini was arrested in October 2016 and was released on R2 000 bail on November 9 in the High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court.
His first bid for bail was unsuccessful.
He was arrested after an incident at Wits, where he was photographed with the helmet and shield of a security guard. He was also charged with violating a court order after the university obtained an interdict against protesting students.

We as the society can not forget or keep quiet about Mcebo Dlamini. Say whatever  about him, but he fought for a cause that now is endorsed and supported by the Government( Free Tertiary Education). What does not make sense is that the community is benefiting from his actins but punishing him at the same time. The system has made it easier for the black child to access prison than free education.

Free Education must come with the freedom of those who fought for it.

  1. I fail to understand the whole situation. Mcebo Dlamini faught for free education which is now endorsed by the government and those benefiting from this system, brought about by Mr Dlamini, those who were fighting with him are no longer showing support to the man. All he did, he did for good intentions. #freemcebodlamini

  2. This is just not right and cruel. We tend to forget the leaders who made our lives much easier but continue to enjoy the benefits of their struggle as we are doing in this case.

  5. Everyone will now benefit kule free education because of his actions, but I'm pretty sure there were those critisizing him from the beginning to the point he got arrested. Those people are now rejoicing thanking him now that there is this new system of free education.

  6. I'm failing to understand why he is in court in the first place, the guy sees the struggles we have pertaining tuition fees. We need free education in this country and besides there will be no more strikes after that.

  8. It seems to me as if fighting for good deeds always lead up to questionable consequences, which makes us question our actions for trying to bring good deeds for people. I just hope he has a sympathetic and a supportive lawyer on his side ,anyways how did case ended?
